Every time I see or hear these words in a gym ad I get so upset. You see, FitFriends... we're approaching "commitment" all wrong...
I find it mindblowing that so many gyms out there use "no commitment" as a major selling point. With that said, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that the 12, 18, or 24 month commitment term is the biggest hangup people have when considering joining my gym. What are we so afraid of? Being on the hook for a monthly payment for that same period? Well, the only reason THAT should be a problem is if you're not using it and paying for nothing. I submit to you... that that situation is what we should REALLY be afraid of, not the fact that if it happens we're left holding the bag financially.
Most people stop at the first level here - you're signing on the dotted line and committing to pay $xx.xx each month for the next however-many-months. That, however, is not the only thing you're committing to... and the gym isn't the one you're making this other commitment to... So let's get in-depth here and chat about what's REALLY so scary about commitment. In episode 85 of the So THIS Is Fitness podcast.
